Gebbia is approached by a winding road through chestnut woods, allowing just the occasional tantalising glimpse of the stunning views ahead. Casa Del Tramonto is in an idyllic location on a promontory, 500 metres above sea level, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, the countryside dotted with almond and fig trees and the occasional pomegranate tree. Walking the terraces, you will breathe the perfume of the wild thyme and marjoram which grow in abundance on the hillside. In season, truffles and wild mushrooms are found in the woods.

Casa del Tramonto is situated on a hillside with breathtaking views over the rolling hills of Chianti, in the small village of Gebbia. The building is reported to be a monastery originating from the 12th century, and has been restored using the original local stone in typical style. The tiny hamlet of Gebbia, where Casa del Tramonto is located, is just 5 km from the ancient walled town of Civitella in Val di Chiana. The front terrace, which looks out over the Val d’Arno, has a hot tub and barbeque area.

The swimming pool is situated in a breathtaking position over the valley on the edge of the olive terraces. The vineyard, runs alongside a lane planted with cypresses, below which are our olive terraces of 200 olive trees. There's a natural promontory at the far end of the terraces from which you can enjoy an even more stunning vista. As its name implies, the Casa del Tramonto is subject to wonderful sunsets over the rolling distant hills of Tuscany.

The road to Casa Del Tramonto from Civitella in Val di Chiana leads only to Gebbia, our little hamlet of about six houses, which is a small Italian rural community. The local people are part of the scene and are wonderfully generous of their time and friendship. If you speak a smattering of Italian, they will readily engage you in delightful conversation about the locality and its customs.
The local area is a gastronomic paradise, and needless to say we have details of all the restaurants in the area, ready for you to make your choice.
The area around Gebbia is perfect for walking and spending time admiring the magnificent views. Tracks meander for miles in uninhabited territory where deer and wild boar roam. The 5km road out of the hamlet to Civitella in Val di Chiana twists and winds through the chestnut woods and has a charm all of its own.
